Late yesterday, the official PlayStation site dropped a mysterious trailer on its website, filled with ominous music and some nifty-looking effects/titles. The homepage and preview both promote a release date of February 20th, alongside the very-specific time of 6 P.M. EST.
As for exactly what the news is about –hey, your guess is as good as ours. Speculation, naturally, is already running wild on gaming sites everywhere. Obviously we’re all hoping for a sooner release date for the PS4, although earlier reports by sites like examiner.com projected a November 20, 2013 drop date for the console — maybe the 20th they’ll make November official. Others, meanwhile, are a little more precise as to what they’re looking for: “backwards compatibility, no lock-outs on used titles, continued free PSN, and the return of install own OS,” says user SayItBetter on Nerdist.
Actually, that compatibility issue seems to be what most users are looking for, at least on that site. “I just bought my PS3 less than a year ago,” complains another user, who adds that it’s a bit too soon to try and afford a new one.
Seems pretty obvious what the consensus is — especially as it’s seldom that PS tries to generate this much hype this way (last time we remember the console generating this much hype was when the PS2 was officially discontinued). Seeing as how it’s been 6 years, safe to say we could use a new one. Price tag projections, meanwhile, are already running as high as $600.

Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
