Geeks Girls Strike Back With The Power Of Psy In “Angry Geeky Girl” Music Video

Friday, 26th April 2013
Posted in Music Video
Tags: angry geek girl, awesome, geek, geek girl, gentleman, psy

It’s really unfortunate that the word “geek” often comes loaded with a background of harassment or a sense of being an outcast. It’s even harder when while trying to be a geek, you wind up being questioned, challenged, and even harassed by people within your own community for a thousand arbitrary reasons. From Con-Harassment to attacks like “You’re not geeky enough,” women in geek and gaming culture don’t always have it easy.

Which is why it’s awesome that in spite of such behavior, Jenny Lorenzo and her friends at Aggressive Comix whipped up this awesome spoof of Psy’s latest hit Gentleman in a strike back against scumbags and haters of the world, all while showing off some awesome cosplay.  Turns out Psy’s astonishingly addictive choreography works just as well for Rogue, Sailor Moon, and a Venom-suited Spider-Man suit as well as it does for the goofy Korean Raptor.

Bonus points for the impressive TARDIS replica while I’m at it.

If you’re still looking for another dose of geekery from Jenny and her team, you might want to check out their Secret of the Booze series, which walks you through how to make an assortment of themed alcoholic drinks based on everything from Doctor Who to Iron Man III.

Jurassic Park 3D is getting a nationwide release this weekend, being put on display for 2,777 theaters from sea to shining sea.

While the film makes its glorious return to the silver screen twenty years later (in stunning anaglyph), this 3-minute mash-up is a nice primer to the theatrical re-release of one of the greatest adventure films of all time.

It’s dubbed “That’s Chaos” and was put together by “Dr. Ian Malcolm” using samples entirely from the original Jurassic Park. Continue reading “Jurassic Park Goes Dubstep in Incredible Mash-Up Music Video” »

Picture 74If there’s something that the nerd music world needs more of, it’s probably Mega Ran, one of those rarities who somehow manages to churn out stuff that’s awesome on a fairly regular basis. As part of his new Time and Space Project, the  Philadelphia-based nerd rapper will be dropping a new EP on the second Tuesday of every month — all throughout 2013.

Like a lot of Random’s stuff, this means more songs chunk full of the nostalgia for 80s/90s games we’ve come to know and love.

So This Guy Managed to Successfully Mash Super Smash Bros. With Space Jam [Download]

SuperSlamBrosMeleeDo your ears long for the dulcet sounds of 90s pop-culture and gaming classics? Do you yearn to slam, jam, and smash your way through the week? Well DJ Slammeister might have the jam for you. Remember Space Jam? Michael Jordan’s career-defining turn as Michael Jordan, a famous basketball player who must play to save the Looney Tunes from being enslaved by aliens? I thought so.

Slammeister’s EP deftly blends Quad City DJ’s ‘Space Jam’ track from the 1996 film with various Nintendo game themes pulled from the ever-popular Super Smash Bros. Melee.

While the thought of mixing a classic of the modern era of cinema such as Space Jam with the nostalgic tunes of a classic gaming mashup might seem strange, therein lies its greatness. So give a listen and break free from the mundanity of your daily routine.

While a pleasure from start to finish, the album really hits its stride around the midway point with tracks like ‘Target Slam!’ and ‘Slam Temple.’ If ‘Yoshi’s Islam’ doesn’t make a believer out of you, then I don’t know what will.

Featuring 22 tracks clocking in at a combined 18 minutes of auditory bliss, Super Slam Bros. will fulfill your wildest musical desires. But it gets even better! Did you know that with a 21st century music-playing device or program like iTunes you, yes YOU, can listen to DJ Slammeister’s magnum opus on loop and never let the glory come to an end? It’s true! You can pick up The Super Slam Bros. Melee EP through Slammeister’s bandcamp page here for the glorious price of ab-so-lutely free, right now! Or you can pay $7 and help fund the greatest musical mind of our generation. Hey you, watcha gonna do?

Picture 7Suffice it to say that, in the chiptunes world, video game theme covers have been done and done again — and while there’s always room for variations on the genre, maybe what the world needs are more chiptune covers of beloved, cult movies.

Fortunately now chiptunes artist CHIPOCRITE has raised the 8-bit bar by composing a bunch of songs paying tribute to The Big Lebowski. Why exactly is beyond us, but it’s pretty awesome he even thought of it. Continue reading “Chiptune Artist CHIPOCRITE Pays an Awesome 8-Bit Tribute to The Big Lebowski” »

Picture 25Fink, aka Andrew Fink, is a Google employee who works at the company’s New York City office. According to Geek.com, Google’s ‘official’ company policy is that their employees only have to work 80% of the time they’re there.

The other 20%, apparently, can be spent doing whatever you want (wonder if they have an open bar like Electronic Arts, hahaha). In the case of Fink, though, some of that 20% was spent making this particular video. Continue reading “Rappa Please: Google Employee Rhymes About How Awesome Google Is (Video)” »

Ah, Mr. Bull. It’s been a while since your razor-sharp wit and cockney accent have blessed us with their truly L33t rhymes. Last we heard from Mr. Bull, he’d brought us his Diablo III rap, an infectious and hilarious tribute to Satan himself. That was preceded, of course, by the nerdcore ditty that brought him to prominence — the one and only Mass Effect 3 Epic Rap.

On top of it all, Mr. Bull reportedly recorded this entire performance with a MASSIVE THROAT INFESTATION — which is, shock, completely unnoticeable. Clearly the man is superhuman. Continue reading “Nerd Rapper Dan Bull is Back, With an Ode to DEAD SPACE 3” »

The first is a nerdcore/techno tribute to Konami’s flagship series, courtesy of BLiNd. Then, some aspiring auteurs have made the Castlevania tribute film “Legend of Vania”, which may very well constitute one of the elaborately made LEGO movies ever.
