Dave Cox, the head of Konami’s UK studio spoke with CVG (via All Games Beta) about an upgraded HD Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. Cox confirmed with CVG in London this morning that the studio would “absolutely” consider bringing an HD version of the game to consoles.
Cox goes on to say that the development team at Mercury Steam created the game in full HD initially so the assets are already available.
“We created everything in high definition – all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything – and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS.
Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere.”

When Cox was asked directly if the studio would consider an HD console version, he said, “Absolutely, yeah. We would consider it.”
Mirror of Fate is a direct sequel, set 25 years after the events in the Lords of Shadow reboot. Players will be able to take control of Trevor and Simon Belmont as well as popular fan favorite, Alucard.

“We want as many people to play it as possible,” said Dave Cox. It is important to note that the studio currently has an exclusive deal with Nintendo and Cox feels “they’ve been very supportive of the product.”
Castlevania: Mirror of Fate has a confirmed a March 5 release date in the U.S.

That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
