The tournament will see 32 teams of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 players go head-to-head for a $1 million purse.
The championships are drawing the best players from Xbox Live, Major League Gaming and the Electronic Sports League. Players will complete “on the Xbox 360..head-to-head in Call of Duty: Black Ops II in a live-streamed spectacular to be broadcast to the masses.”
“More people play Call of Duty multiplayer every day than watch the average regular season game of the NBA. The scale and passion of the Call of Duty fan base is simply humbling, and yet there is no formal way to find out who amongst those millions of players is the best of the best, until now,” said CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg. “Watching the performances of the very best Call of Duty players is already a mass spectator sport on YouTube and Call of Duty® Elite. We are going to bring the best players in the world to Hollywood to compete on the ultimate stage, for the ultimate prize. And we are going to invite our entire worldwide fan base to join in the fun.”
Players who think they have what it takes to complete need to register for a Call of Duty Elite account. Once you have signed up teams of 4 can “vie for entry into the Call of Duty Championship, by competing in the February season of League Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops II on Xbox LIVE®, which opens today.”
The top 8 teams from the Major League Gaming Winter Championship, taking place in Dallas, will earn spots in the Call of Duty Championships as well. Additionally, the top 8 teams from the ESL’s European finals in Germany will also gain entry to the big tournament. The rest of the positions will be filled by other international teams from “Asia, Australia, and Brazil.”

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
