Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is the latest offering from Riddick developers Starbreeze. Today the company has released some gameplay footage which you can check out below (via CVG).
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons features a very interesting and unique gameplay mechanic, you control both brothers at once on a single controller. Players control the big brother with the left stick and the little brother with the right. Having to control both brothers at once is where the game’s platforming and puzzle elements really shine.
The game is being developed by a much smaller team at Starbreeze of about 30 people including well-known swedish filmmaker Josef Fares.
The game is regularly compared to title’s like Journey and Fable and is widely expected to be another amazing indie.
The two brothers set out on a journey to find and bring back the “water of life” in order to save the life of their sick and dying father.
“People think, because of my background, Brothers is just going to be a lot of cut-scenes, but it’s all about the gameplay. I truly love the interactivity of gaming. I appreciate things like The Walking Dead and Heavy Rain, but they are not the future of games. Even with the choices you get to make, it’s just another way of telling a story. You can do much more than that in games,” Fares told CVG
The downloadable title features a very focused four hour experience where there are no reused gameplay elements.
“We could have easily made this a ten hour game by recycling gameplay, but we haven’t. We want to keep the player curious all the time,” said Fares. “When you play Brothers, you’ll have no idea what’s coming next, and I guarantee you’ll never guess what’s going to happen at the end.”
For Fares “everything is about the experience. It’s not about the length, and Brothers is as long as it’s supposed to be.”
The game is published by 505 Games and is expected to launch in spring 2013 for Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
