Seems there’s a lot more to the Wreck-It-Ralph film than Pixar animation and video game characters. Turns out that director Rich Moore filmed another movie — around the same time Ralph was released — that explains the strange story behind it.
The end result is something between Spinal Tap and the classic Donkey Kong documentary, King of Kong, called Garlan Hulse: Where Potential Lives.
According to GeekyNerfherder.com, the mockumentary (which accompanies Disney’s release of Ralph on Blu-Ray as an extra) tells the story of Garlan Hulse, one time Fix-it-Felix (the fictional game in Ralph) champion, who is now a total mess following his fall from grace at the hands of his best friend and better player, Kent Ziborski.
The movie’s portrayal of poor Garlan is what really works, just because of how pathetic Garlan has become: he still lives in his mother’s trailer, his father left him for a mannequin, he got fired from his car wash job, and every single shot at stardom following his ‘meteoric’ rise has fallen through his fingers.
While the movie is geared more towards an older audience (kids’ parents will find more of a resemblance to Christopher Guest movies here than anything else), the notion of Garlan spending the rest of his life trying to beat his arch enemy’s score will likely strike a chord with a lot of gamers. It’s worth the entire 29 minutes, if you can manage it.

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
