Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures have announced that the official new Iron Man anime, Rise of the Technovore, will officially be released April 16th, 2013.
Among those lending their vocal talents to the production are Norman Reedus of The Boondock Saints, who will provide the voice of The Punisher, alongside Matthew Mercer (Resident Evil: Damnation) as Stark himself.
Norman Reedus’ role as Castle in Technovore marks his debut as an animation voice-over actor. Given his popularity in AMC’s The Walking Dead and Boondocks, it my very well help boost sales of the movie, as well as further Reedus’ status as a geek icon and regular Comic-Con guest.
Marvel Online, meanwhile, has released this official synopsis, alongside the release date of April 16th:
“Billionaire Tony Stark, in his Iron Man armor, prevents an attack from a mysterious new foe, but innocent bystanders are killed, including his best friend War Machine, Lt. Colonel James Rhodes. Detained for questioning by S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man escapes, determined to find the mastermind behind the attack. Pursued by Black Widow and Hawkeye, Iron Man enlists the help of the ruthless vigilante The Punisher. But can the Armored Avenger handle what he finds when he catches the person responsible and is forced to face his deadliest weapon, a biotechnology called Technovore that could wipe out all life on the planet?”
Among the specific goodies Marvel will reportedly put on the Blu-Ray /DVD: a special interactive animation gallery, designed by Madhouse Animation Studios and featuring tons of concept art from the animators and designers. Another feature, “S.H.I.E.L.D.: Protecting the Marvel Universe,” will take what IGN calls ”an in-depth look” into the world of the secret spy organization as it’s been portrayed in popular culture (comics, movies, etc).

Logan Huffman wants to know who is posting comments about him online and asks Jace for help. Meanwhile Joe Flanigan is caught again flirting in the V costume. Jace heads to the set of Law and Order: SVU to catch up with Ice – T and Coco and the Starcraft II team gets “rushed” by World of Warcraft Lead Designer, Jeff Kaplan.
Jace has decided to take advantage of his co-hosting duties at the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire celebration, by showing his new music video to the thousands of EverQuest players in attendance, much to the dismay of the crowd. That didn’t stop one enthusiastic guest from doing something radical.
