Time Warner has announced that a new entry in the Batman Arkham franchise will be coming this year. Unfortunatly just about nothing is known about the title at this point.
During the company’s Q4 2012 financial call, CFO and Chief Administrative Officer John K. Martin said that, “We also have a strong game release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise.”
As posted by Yahoo Finance via GT, Martin continued with, “So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.”

Just when everything seemed to be looking up, Japanese print manga volume sales apparently did a total about-face last year, reporting some huge losses. Things haven’t been faring much better in the U.S. Digital Manga market either, unfortunately.
According to Anime News Network via market research firm Oricon, many of the country’s manga volume booksellers reported a 1. 5% dip in profits for the 2012 fiscal year. Continue reading “Print Manga Volume Sales Suffer Huge Losses in Japan; U.S. Digital Manga Takes Hit — Now What?” »

2012 was one of the most profitable years in gaming, with Black Ops II beating all kind of records and critically acclaimed indies like Journey and Mark of The Ninja proving AAA titles aren’t the only titles that matter.
We also saw two new consoles hit the market, some more spectacular than others.
But of the hundreds of video game releases this year, there were but only a handful we could choose as our favorites. In what’s nearly an impossible task, we used the following metrics to narrow our lists down to a TOP 5. Which games: Continue reading “The Top 5 Video Games of 2012” »

GTTV today gives us an exclusive look at the brand new Lucasarts Star Wars game, which is certainly taking on a much more dark and mature feel to previous Star Wars experiences. Star Wars 1313 will take place in a “bleak underworld” filled with bounty hunters and will be set on Coruscant on “Level 1313.”
The games director, Dominic Robilliard, sat down with Gametrailers TV personality Geoff Keighley to discuss the direction of the new title (below). Robilliard said that the game will be taking place on Coruscant, officially quashing the rumor that Boba Fett would be the game’s protagonist.
In the gameplay video below we see an almost Continue reading “Star Wars 1313 Exclusive New Gameplay Footage” »

It looks like the new Mario game Nintendo teased us with earlier this year is coming to fruition in the form of New Super Mario Bros 2. The Nintendo press release confirmed the new title will be coming to the 3DS in both North America and Japan this summer.
The New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be a brand new adventure in the series continuing the tradition of side scrolling Mario games. Of course the title will feature Mario and Luigi, but it will also include “loads of other favorite characters from the popular Mario series.”
Launching across North America this August, players can expect a game that was Continue reading “Brand New Super Mario Bros 2. This Summer” »

Research firm Nielsen today released its statistics on the most anticipated games of 2012 by surveying gaming consumers using eight key consumer metrics such as “Awareness and Purchase Interest”. The result is a total score compared to all previous games released for each console known as the Nielsen Game Rank. The list (below) shows the hottest upcoming titles for the three major consoles including Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.
While there aren’t many surprises on the list, we do learn what games are most anticipated for each console. For example, when it came to Xbox 360, Halo 4 (not surprisingly) topped the list with a Game Rank of 98%. Following closely behind was Assassin’s Creed III at 94%, and Max Payne 3 at 91%.
For the PlayStation 3, on the other hand, AC 3 was able to take the top spot with 98% followed by Max Payne 3 in second and Resident Evil 6 in third. For obvious reasons things were a lot different on Wii with the top three spots going Continue reading “These Are The Most ANTICIPATED Games of 2012, According To Nielsen” »

To enter, first you have to visit and like the campaign’s Facebook page. You will then be prompted to select three of the “issues that matter most” to you. Some of the options (pictured below) include Debt, Economy, Energy, Environment, Health Care, Immigration, National Security, Social Issues, and Social Security. With a recent incident involving protesting workers at Xbox component supplier Foxconn’s factory in Shanghai, there is no better time for Apple to tighten its policies on protecting its workers abroad.
Foxconn has come under scrutiny related to working conditions as one of Apple’s biggest partners, suppliers, and assemblers as well.
In order to improve their auditing process of overseas suppliers, Apple today announced that they would be allowing the Fair Labor Association to access their supplier’s factories in order to inspect and keep an eye on working conditions. The FLA will publish independent reports of its findings on its own website. Apple is the first technology company the FLA has accepted for membership. With CES 2012 set to kick off next week on January 10, the big talk of this year’s show is smart TVs, mostly due to Apple’s expected entrance into the HDTV market. Due to this, much of the media is picking up the story that 3D won’t be as big of a focus at the show as it was last year.
According to CNET, at least one TV vendor plans to grab some attention with its latest 3D technology– Toshiba is introducing a glasses-free 3D TV and plan to be first to the U.S. market in the first quarter of 2012. Continue reading “Toshiba To Launch First Glasses-Free 3D TV in U.S. in Q1 2012” »

According to the often reliable Asian trade publication DigiTimes, who relays information from various sources within the asian supply chain, Apple is prepping two new iPads for 2012. This probably isn’t reason to hold off from buying an iPad 2 as the most interesting upgrade will be coming in the later half of next year, but it does back up previous rumors of a new iPad in the 7-inch category…
The report says Apple is “likely to launch” a 7.85-inch iPad before the begininning of Q4 2012. In addition to that yet to be unveiled device, they also say a “new iPad” (fingers crossed for a full fledged iPad 3 upgrade) sometime towards the end of Q1. That puts us in a March timeframe for the iPad 3, which would lineup with previous releases and current rumors from other sources.
When it comes to the 7.85-inch model, which we’ve also heard various rumors about in the past, DigiTimes’ sources say Apple is particularly looking at taking on Amazon’s Kindle Fire and similar devices that might be stealing potential new iPad customers: Continue reading “New iPads: Apple to launch 7.85-inch iPad and iPad 3 in 2012” »

While it might not be a big deal to some of our readers abroad, there is still a lack of NFC-enabled vending machines across the US. Maybe because most people try to avoid using credit cards for low cost items to avoid transaction fees.
Nevertheless, Google is continuing a major rollout of their MasterCard-backed Google Wallet mobile payment solution (which lets you pay with a wave of your phone), this time adding roughly 6,000 vending machines in the mid-Atlantic, Chicago, and San Francisco. We knew it would only be so long before rumors began of an Apple Branded HDTV and today longtime Apple analyst Gene Munster certainly didn’t disappoint. via Business Insider” target=”_blank”>Talking at the IGNITION: Future of Media Event, Munster made some claims of what we can expect from Apple’s upcoming living-room take over.
In case you need a refresher, we’ve already heard a bunch of rumors that Apple is working on an HDTV set, most of which seem to stem from Steve Jobs’ comments to author Walter Isaacson that he had “finally cracked” the TV before his passing.
After urging audience members to hold off Continue reading “Here’s What to Expect From Apple’s HDTV, Coming 2012” »

If an unnamed “development source” is to be believed, Eurogamer claims to have some interesting details about the yet to be announced second-generation Kinect.
In fact, they say it will be quite a significant upgrade in terms of processing power, enabling games to do things like “lip read, detect when players are angry, and determine in which direction they are facing.”
The peripheral will also reportedly be able to track precise facial movements and the pitch and levels of a player’s voice to determine mood. These features were not currently possible due Continue reading “‘Kinect 2′ Will Be Able To Read Your Lips & Sense Emotions” »
