March is really turning out to be quite an important month in gaming, with the release date for Bioshock Infinite announced, brand new info on Halo 4, and finally today we get the launch trailer of Assassins Creed 3.

We reported last week regarding leaked images on AC3 that confirmed its setting–the American Revolution. We got a glimpse of the Native American looking assassin as well as some of his weapons and adversaries. Today Ubisoft unveiled the game at 12pm EST in an official launch trailer (below).

Leaked In-Game Screenshots From Assassin’s Creed 3 Reveal New Info

We reported yesterday that Assassin’s Creed 3 would be set during the American Revolution based on unofficial leaked images of the franchises new protagonist. Ubisoft, the game’s publisher, then released the official box cover art on Facebook confirming the rumours. Today, new screenshots/concept art leaked by All Games Beta (via Kotaku) show the new assassin stalking unsuspecting red-coats and even what appears to be hunting a deer. A full gallery is after the break.

Much of the details from the character, noticeable in the previous leaks, are present and accounted for in the new images. We see a native American-looking assassin wearing aboriginal style greaves, vambraces and moccasins, as well as wielding both a tomahawk and a bow-and-arrow. The new screenshots do appear to show a musket strapped to the assassin’s waist, as well as a large rifle in his hands. Assassin’s Creed 3 Is Set During The American Revolution, Box Art Revealed

UPDATE: Ubisoft (via The Verge) has now released the cover art for Assassin’s Creed 3 which seems to validate the leaked images from earlier. It also contains American Revolution imagery.

An official statement from Ubisoft also confirms the March 5 unveiling that the anonymous Best Buy employee leaked. The statement read, “We confirm that Ubisoft will announce all the details of Assassin’s Creed III on Monday, March 5th at 5pm.”
