mass-effect-3-DLCNew Mass Effect 3 images have surfaced online leading some to believe that there could be some new DLC for the epic sci-fi RPG on the way. The two images (seen below) came to us courtesy of series executive producer Casey Hudson and producer Michael Gamble on Twitter this morning (via AllGasmesBeta).

At this point it is unknown what these pictures might be teasing, but chances are it is regarding some new content coming to Bioware’s ME3. The two mysterious images showcase a Krogan and a casino.

Along with the images the two tweeted about each others leak. “Does not look like a guy you’d want to mess with,” Gamble said pertaining to the Krogan image Hudson dropped. Hudson in turn, commenting on the casino image from Gamble, said “looks like a nice place for some R&R…”

Gamble then followed up on Twitter once more with:

Enjoy your teasers. Two for the price of one ;)

The official Mass Effect Facebook page took notice of the two teaser images. The page reads:

“Casey Hudson and Mike Gamble both tweeted some strange images this morning. What do you make of it?”

Like we mentioned above there is no official word from Bioware at this time as to what these images might be teasing. Along with some comments last month from designer Joe Hendricks and composer Sam Hulick, most people believe the images to be teasing some upcoming ME3 DLC. Hendricks said, “pretty much every ME3 DLC writer here in Edmonton is involved” in creating new DLC. Sam Hulick added that this new content has a “high potential for tears.”

Back in September rumors began to surface about a third Dragon Age title in the works at BioWare. Stories of the game being tested and a survey going out to fans regarding the title of the game prompted EA to make the game official.

The rumored survey ended up containing the game’s full name, Dragon Age III: Inquisition.

At that point the press release failed to leave out one important detail though, the platform DA3 would ship on.

It is no secret that the massively popular Mass Effect franchise will be getting another game at some point. Although the details are extremely scarce at this point we do now have confirmation that a new ME title is in the works according to a post on Bioware’s blog (via Gameinformer).

We previously reported to you on a new Mass Effect game when the title’s devs said that the game would not feature a character like Commander Shepard again. Although Commander Shepard’s story did indeed come to an end, Mass Effect as a franchise has not.

Bioware is still working on Mass Effect 3 with its biggest DLC just around the corner and they are already making plans for ME4. One thing the development studio has said is that it will certainly not be starring a character similar to Commander Shepard.

Recently some of the folks at Bioware Montreal spoke with VG247 about the future of the Mass Effect franchise and the direction it will be taking.

As most of us know, Bioware said that it never intended the franchise to end after the current trilogy and is hard at work throwing around ideas for the next installment. Continue reading “Daily Gaming: Mass Effect 4 Details Emerge, Commander Shepard Officially Done” »

A mere couple of weeks after news that the anime Mass Effect: Paragon Lost was stuck in development hell until further notice, a small bit of silver lining (as well as a collective sigh of relief from anime/ME fans around the world): FUNimation reps have confirmed that the Mass Effect anime will be released on DVD at the end of December, despite some sites reporting it for an early November Bluray/DVD release.

The news comes to us directly from the anime’s official Twitter account.

Returning to the fold will be the same animators who brought us Ghost in the Shell, along with actor Freddie Prinze Jr. as James Vega.   Continue reading “Daily Anime: ‘Mass Effect: Paragon Lost’ is Being Made After All; Gets New Release Date” »

It was back in July when we reported that BioWare and Production I.G. — a Japan-based anime company that gave us Ghost in the Shell back in the mid-nineties — had dropped some of the first footage from the Mass Effect anime, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. Needless to say most of anime/ME fandom collectively pissed themselves, psyched for what could only be an incredibly exciting project. No half-assed Michael Bay-ish adaptation (yet), but an anime version made by an amazing studio.

According to Kotaku, however, the movie may now be doomed to production hell: as the peeps at BioWare have defaulted on their payment, and thus I.G. has been forced to cancel the contract. Could this really be as bad as it sounds — that we’ll never actually get to even see the project happen? NOOOOO. Continue reading “Daily Anime: Is BioWare’s Mass Effect Anime Dead?” »

Mass Effect 3 will be getting some new DLC in the way of the free “Earth” add-on. According to The Verge, who went hands on with the DLC at SDCC, the third batch of free multiplayer content for ME3 will extend the co-operative wave-based mode with new maps, characters and items. “Earth” will be available tomorrow on all compatible platforms.

The Earth “DLC” will include 6 new N7 characters and will take place on Earth, as I’m sure you imagined, during the time Shepard was exploring the galaxies. Continue reading “DAILY GAMING: ME3′s ‘Earth’ Multiplayer DLC with 6 New Characters Available Tomorrow [Screenshots]” »

We have been covering the controversy surrounding the Mass Effect 3 ending for some time now, and it seems finally the ME community is going to be getting some closure. For about a month BioWare has been considering making changes to latest iteration of its sci-fi shooter and now Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder and general manager of Bioware has confirmed that the company has new content in production as we speak in response to the backlash.

Today Dr. Muzyka issued a statement to “Mass Effect 3 players” on the company’s website. Muzyka said that the Mass Effect 3 team has been following the fan reaction to the ending of the latest title very closely and is now officially announcing what it plans to do about it. If you haven’t heard by now, BioWare’s Mass Effect 3 released earlier this month is causing a bit of controversy over its ending. Don’t worry, no spoilers here. The developer has now responded to angered fans, while a petition to “Retake Mass Effect” has raised over $35,000 for charity.

According to Child’s Play, who is behind the petition, the campaign isn’t to express anger with BioWare, but simply to “express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love.”

For the developer’s official response to the issue we turn to BioWare Director Casey Hudson who spoke to Digital Trends about the controversy: Continue reading “BioWare Responds To Controversy Over ME3 Ending, Petition Raises $35k For Charity” »

EA has now announced the sales numbers for its recently released sci-fi action hit Mass Effect 3. We all expected Mass Effect 3 to make headway in the sales department but the numbers coming out of EA are quite staggering. Mass Effect 3 had an ambitious midnight sale the day of the game’s launch, possibly pushing the title to sell over 890,000 copies in its first 24 hours in North America alone.

Yesterday at the Wedbush Technology Media and Telecommunications Conference, which took place in New York City, John Riccitiello of EA spoke about ME3 meeting the company’s expectations”

“We anticipated it doing well, so we’re happy.”

I’ve got a bad feeling about this…

You know what it’s like when WoW comes up right after patch day? How everyone’s rushing to get back into the servers and that can cause said servers to crash? (Or when you get too many players in one place ’cause you’re a youtube celebrity?)

Well EA will apparently have none of that shit for its upcoming mega-MMO The Old Republic, and has announced it will take precautionary efforts to prevent player-caused crashes from happening right off the bat. By limiting copies of the game available for purchase on Day One. Continue reading “EA to LIMIT Sales of “The Old Republic” to prevent Server Crashes” »
