Today Capcom has launched a new update coming to Resident Evil 6 along with the announcement of the PC version coming in March of next year (via GI).
The update includes changes to the game’s infamous camera, co-op and various modes. Capcom seems to be answering some of the community’s biggest complaints about the title with QTE assist and stage selection on top of the aforementioned camera adjustments. Now players will be able to zoom the game camera in and out at will as well as having “the option to automatically complete most QTE events.”

OLPC, better known as One Laptop Per Child, decided to conduct a random and odd experiment: give illiterate Ethiopian children a bunch of deactivated Motorola Zoom tablets.
Within 5 months, the children — all of whom had never so much as read a printed word — had not only figured out how to work the computers’ OS’, but also activate certain disabled hardware on the tablets. Continue reading “Illiterate Kids in Ethiopia Hack Disabled Computers” »

I don’t know about you guys, but after a hard day’s work researching video games, analyzing movies and looking at Rihanna’s boobs, we need to unwind a bit…When we think ‘unwind’, we think ninjas with pseudo-real life ninja skills, beating the piss out of one another in an abandoned factory, and can’t help but find it some sign of divine intervention that we stumbled into exactly that. Lucky us.
So, as featured in Gizmodo, what you see is what you get: two ninjas with some pretty Continue reading “Ninjas Killing Each Other in an Abandoned Factory” »

Most of the industry expect Apple to follow its usual iPad release window and make an announcement in March with customers getting their hands on the device shortly after. Today we get some solid confirmation from the typically accurate AllThingsD who say Apple will indeed be hosting an event for the next-gen iPad during the first week of March. Here’s what to expect.
First of all there have been some rumors that the device will be dubbed the iPad 2S, or something else, opposed to iPad 3. Most rumors back up a much better HD display, more powerful processor and GPU, but leaked casings Continue reading “iPad 3 Is Coming Next Month, Here’s What to Expect” »

Have you ever tried to watch fan shot videos of a recent concert or events on YouTube? It usually consists of jumping from one video to another trying to find the best camera angle and highest quality videos. It’s also painfully obvious nobody in the audience was man enough to hold up their camera for an entire two-hour set, leaving you to find bits and pieces of the show.
Thankfully, San Francisco-based startup Switchcam does the dirty work for you…
The company compiles all of the necessary videos to create a full-set list for different concerts, events, and performances, allowing you to seamlessly jump between different camera angles and sections of the set all from one page. Here’s how it works… Continue reading “Switchcam Compiles YouTube, Fan Videos Into Interactive Concerts” »

As cameras and smartphones continue to improve, they are quickly replacing our everyday point-and-shoot cams. The iPhone is no exception, with its recent upgrade to a redesigned 8-megapixel camera system in the iPhone 4S earning approval from celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. It even beat out a $3,000 Canon in a comparison test.
When author Walter Isaacson sat down with Fortune to talk about the ‘Steve Jobs’ bio, he noted Jobs wanted to reinvent three key industries: TV, textbooks, and photography. While we already have insight into his possible plans for a television, and the book sheds light on meetings with publishers to transform the textbook industry, we’re not too sure what Jobs envisioned for his reinvention of photography. Imagine being able to pan through a video as it’s playing, control vantage points by tilting the iPad it’s playing on, and change your field of view as if you’re in control of a virtual camera. No longer would you be limited to what the single shot any particular camera man decided to shoot. You know what little green light on the bezel of your MacBook, iMac, Apple wireless keyboard, or Magic Trackpad that turns on whenever your built-in iSight camera is on? Well, a story from Bloomberg Businessweek takes us through the process of how Apple makes the light almost invisible to the human eye when inactive.
The story starts with Apple design chief Jony Ive. Around five years ago, Ive decided a small green light above the display would be ideal to let a user know when the camera is active. The problem was they couldn’t shine light through Apple’s solid, one-piece unibody aluminum casing. The solution? AT&T has just announced five new Android handsets making their way to the carrier this year. Included in the new lineup is the Motorola Atrix 2, Samsung Double Time, Pantech Pocket, Samsung Captivate Glide, and the AT&T Avail.
Perhaps the most noteworthy of the five is the Motorola Atrix 2. We got a look at this device back at CES and were pretty impressed with the hardware. Included in the Atrix 2 is a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4-3-inch 960 x 540 qHD display, 8-megapixel main camera capable of 1080p HD capture, and an unlisted front-facing camera. It also runs Android 2.3 and Motorola’s webtop and will support a bunch of Motorola accessories.
