Michael Washington, one of the back-up singers for the hip-hop group Cypress Hill, sued Rockstar for $250 million.
Apparently Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar illegally used Michael “Shagg” Washington’s likeness and life story to create the character CJ in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. However the court doesn’t seem to think so (via GT). Similar to the No Doubt and Activision case that recently came to a conclusion on transformative fair use, the back-up singers case was based on the fact that he and Rockstar did in fact have a relationship back in 2003.

There are endless iPhone cases meant to protect your device, but the SmartGuard from self-defense gadget maker Piexon might be the first that actually protects the user. Your iPhone might not usually be the first thing you reach for to defend youself, but with an integrated pepper spray canister, SmartGuard might do the trick.
The SmartGuard is definitely not a toy, packing in a powerful 10% Oleoresin Capsicum (2 Mio SHU) and range of five feet (1.5 meters). Due to its size you’ll only get 6 total 1/2 second shots per canister, but that’s more than enough to take down an attacker with a precisely aimed burst.
The only concern that immediately comes to mind is having to hold a can of pepper spray Continue reading “Defend Yourself With Piexon’s Pepper Spray iPhone Case” »

That’s right, for a mere $300 to $800 dollars, an actual BPRD training facility has opened in Portland. In case you’re not a Hellboy aficionado, BPRD stands for Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, and is essentially comprised of Hellboy’s buddies — Johann Kraus, Liz Sherman, Kate Corrigan, Roger the Homunculus, Abe Sapien, and Captain Ben Daimo. Dark Horse Comics themselves have teamed up with and outdoor education and training company to create the camp, which trains you in skills of survival (duh), martial arts, weaponry, forensics, folklore and mythology, potions, charms, telepathy, physiology of monsters and gadgets of the occult.
How bad-ass is that?

We’ve seen Apple products take a lot of damage. Most of the time it’s done intentionally like this Barrett M82 sniper rifle tearing an iPhone 4S to pieces. We’ve also seen damage done to iOS devices for a good cause, like the guys at iFixit taking apart the iPhone in order to teach us how to fix it. The good news is you might be able to avoid cracked screens like in this drop test if you pick up the new G-Form Extreme Sleeve protective case.
The guys from G-Form are at CES 2012 and they are dropping bowling balls on iPads to prove it. Continue reading “iPad Shows It Can Survive Almost Anything…Unfortunately?” »

The video below shows Padzilla Case, a made to order accessory for iPhone or iPad that allows you to control your device on up to a 150-inch multi-touch display.
While makers Crunchy Logistics describe the product as a case, it’s actually more of a display resembling a massive iDevice that allows you to connect your iPhone or iPad. No need to jailbreak Continue reading “Padzilla Case is a 70-inch touchscreen for your iPad or iPhone” »

It’s no secret that leaked case designs for upcoming Apple mobile devices have often lead to discoveries about design changes for upcoming future products.
Whether its the dimensions of the case, or repositioned openings for volume rockers and other hardware elements, it’s been proven that case manufacturers have been able to get their hands on the specs for upcoming devices before most others.
The latest set of images (courtesy of Italian Mac site Macitynet.it) shows what the next-gen iPhone may look like based on a comparison of a rumoured iPhone 5 case and a current iPhone 4.
As you can from the images, the design appears to be quite a departure from the currently shipping iDevices… returning to familiar curved back (much like the 3G), and widening the dimensions to make room for what we hope is a 4+ inch display. More images after the break and much more at the source.
