Sony has announced that its Mobile gaming platform will arrive in October. Now called Playstation Mobile, the service will bring third party and Sony developed titles to both its own machines and what the company is calling various certified devices.

Playstation mobile will launch on October 3rd in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Australia, France and Germany with more regions to follow.At this point the service will have about 30 titles on launch day ranging in price from about $0.63 to a little over $10.

done-sony-ericsson-xperia-arcWhat’s the advantage of having a PlayStation Certified phone like the Xperia Play? Being able to access Sony’s PlayStation Suite full of old PS games of course (and a ton of other content in the future hopefully).

But if that’s not be enough of an incentive for you to pick up a Sony smartphone at the moment, Sony has opened up the PS Suite SDK to developers in a closed-beta, allowing them to build games that run cross-platform on both PS Certified phone/tablets running Android, and non-Android devices like the PS Vita.
