The weeks of video game history are just flying by. Here’s a look at the most recent one.
Presidential Debate Hits XBox Live
The first presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney aired on XBox Live Wednesday night, complete with interactive polling questions that were made available during the broadcast.
This broadcast was not only historic for seeing XBox Live as a broadcaster of such a mainstream event, but also for marking the first time Medicare was an important topic to gamers not playing the Nintendo Wii.
Achievement Unlocked – 10G: Yes, I said old people played the Wii. They did. Continue reading “This Week in Gaming: Bieber and FIFA score, Donkey Kong goes gold and Cliffy B ‘grows up’” »

It’s one of those few songs where the title tells you everything you need to know:
“Sick, Epic, Dope, Banging” is the latest track from Drop Goblin — it compares favorably to Skrillex, with hints of Deadmau5 and Bare Noize thrown in and ultimately forms an epic drop.
Drop Goblin describes it as: Continue reading “DAILY SOUNDCLOUD: Drop Goblin Drops Huge Dubstep In “Sick, Epic, Dope, Banging”” »

There has been a ton of buzz around E3 regarding next-gen games and consoles, and now we finally get a look at Epic’s Unreal Engine 4. Based how many great current generation titles are built around Unreal’s tech, this could be a glimpse into what many titles will look like on future hardware.

Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be a departure from the series’ current formula, introducing a Diablo-style gameplay style. Like the name implies, the game will be a dungeon crawler with a focus on weapon crafting and collectibles.
This our first look at the game since it debuted live on stage during Apple’s third-generation iPad unveiling. According to IGN, who got their hands on the game (video below), “Dungeons plays beautifully,” and long time fans of the current on-rails Infinity Blade experience won’t be disappointed. Most girls ask their fathers for pony’s (based on what I’m told) while boys ask for their own racecar (based on what I did).
Clint Fishburne settled on building his children a flight simulator to help them develop the body movement and muscle memory skills necessary to fly and land a plane. Fishburne is a regional pilot based out of Atlanta, who was trained in a simulator that cost too much to fit a pilot’s salary (with most cock-pit simulators beginning at $7,000) so naturally he built one of his own. At today’s Apple iPad launch event it unveiled “the new iPad” boasting a retina display, brand new 5-megapixel camera system, faster A5X dual-core processor with quad-core graphics, and for the most part unchanged design. Preorders for “the new iPad” (that’s right, not “iPad 3″) begin today with the device becoming available on March 16 in most major countries.
Apple will keep the base model at $499 and the new 4G LTE model will start at the same price as the current iPad 2′s WiFi+3g model, $629. The iPad 2 will drop down to $399. Now onto the good stuff… what does this mean for gamers?
“This presents a problem for us in presenting it to you. For the first time an iPad has a higher resolution than this entire display behind you… That’s a fun challenge.” — Phil Schiller, Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing

Still not super-familiar with what some are calling “one of the greatest sci-fi series of our time” (guess that includes Philip K. Dick, William Gibson and Heinlein)?
Maybe it’s a sign of the times when you can learn most of what you need to know about all things ME in a 3-minute nerdcore rap, succinctly entitled “Mass Effect Epic Rap.” It’s the work of one Dan Bull, a somewhat chemically imbalanced nerdcore artist (who isn’t) who has made a hobby out of covering the most epic of the gaming world, Continue reading “Full “Mass Effect” Rap is Here” »

Looking to upgrade to a new Android device on Sprint? Starting today Samsung’s Galaxy S II variant, the Epic 4G Touch is officially available via the Sprint website. It’s gonna set you back $200 on the usual two year commitment, but the good news is you’ll be getting one of the better Android-powered smartphones on the market for much less than possible before now.
If you couldn’t bring yourself to part with $600+ for the unlocked Galaxy S II, the subsidized price will definitely make it easier to make the switch. The 4G WiMax-capable device sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display and an impressive 7.7-thin design. Most of the other hardware specs mirror its Galaxy S II counterpart available on other carriers.
