Moon Rift is a 2.5D platformer shooter with a “virtually limitless amount of insane guns to collect!” The game is currently in development by sole creator Sam Hutcher and will be releasing for Android and iOS later this year, followed by PC, Linux, OUYA and Mac releases.
Think a 2.5D Borderlands-like experience with random levels and procedurally generated enemies. “I wanted to focus a little more on the old school RPG feel, Hutcher tells us. “I would have to say game draws a lot of inspiration from games like Zelda or the old Final Fantasies, as well as the shoot em up games like Borderlands.”

You must fight your way through perilous battles with other mongrels and giant beasts alike. “To quickly gain status in a harsh and brutal world, they are given the opportunity to fight for their freedom in the mongrel arenas,” artistic lead Stephan Messier told us.

Usagi’s one-and-only game thus far has been the 1988 Commodore 64 game, The Legend of Usagi Yojimbo (which wasn’t as bad as it could have been). Safe to say Stan Sakai’s epic samurai sword-wielding, decapitating ronin bunny rabbit needs an update in the gaming world.
Now, however, it looks as though the legendary comic/manga may finally be getting the game treatment it deserves. We hope. Continue reading “RYAAAAAAH! Epic Manga/Comic USAGI YOJIMBO Gets His Own Mobile Game” »

Adam Saltsman the creator of Canabalt along with Solipskier co-creator Greg Wohlwend have created a game called Hundreds. The puzzler is available today on the iOS app store. Check out the gameplay video and image gallery below.
The game is a simple yet addictive puzzler with an excellent original soundtrack where players must touch various circles on the screen until there value accumulatively reach 100. The player touches a circle to make its numerical value grow and releases it to make it stop. The idea is that while a circle is growing it becomes “volatile” and can’t come in contact with any other circle while it’s in this state or it’s game over.

Originally programmed for the Apple II, Karateka is a beat’em up released in 1982 created by Jordan Mechner. With it’s unique mixture of a side scrolling platformer and a traditional fighting game, the original Karateka was well received for its groundbreaking rotoscoped animation and cutscenes.
Mechner, who created the game while attending Yale, later went on to create the famous Prince of Persia. 28 years later, Mechner has brought us a new, modernized and re-imagined Karateka for our current generation hardware.

Square Enix’s highly acclaimed DS title ‘The World Ends With You’ landed in the App store this weekend. The iOS version of the title is completely reworked for the platform and includes some added functionality as well.
Originally developed for the DS by personnel from Nintendo’s Kingdom Hearts team, ‘The World Ends With You’ (‘It’s A Wonderful World’ in Japan) is an action RPG set in modern day Shibuya, Tokyo. In the DS version, some complained the game can be complicated at times both because of its original approach to combat and the steep learning curve of the game’s battle system.
