Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be a departure from the series’ current formula, introducing a Diablo-style gameplay style. Like the name implies, the game will be a dungeon crawler with a focus on weapon crafting and collectibles.

This our first look at the game since it debuted live on stage during Apple’s third-generation iPad unveiling. According to IGN, who got their hands on the game (video below), “Dungeons plays beautifully,” and long time fans of the current on-rails Infinity Blade experience won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t heard by now, reports that seem to originate from the sometimes reliable AppleInsider claim Apple CEO Tim Cook was spotted at Valve’s headquarters in Bellevue, Washington this morning.

The report didn’t provide any information about what Cook might have been doing there or cite any sources for the story, but the rumor has of course set off a storm of speculation regarding what the two companies might have been discussing. While its not clear we’ll ever get our hands on concepts currently in Apple’s labs, a review of the new iPad from Anandtech has leaked details about a physical iPad controller Apple has in the works. At the same time we get a look at the brand new chrome line of Xbox 360 controllers officially announced by Microsoft today.

This isn’t the first time info has surfaced regarding a remote/controller concept from Apple. A patent that surfaced in April 2010 showed Apple was working on gaming accessories. The images in the patent showed a Nintendo DS-like design with a D-Pad, two game buttons and a touchscreen in the middle.

The report from Anandtech claimed Apple has an internal project dedicated to bringing a physical controller to market, but also noted it was uncertain whether the device would ever become available. We know there is certainly a market for physical controllers compatible with iOS devices and with confirmation Apple is working on it,  it’s entirely possible we’ll see an Apple branded gaming controller in the near future.

At the same time of rumors of a controller for iOS devices, Microsoft has confirmed today the availability of its chrome series of Xbox 360 controllers.

Available starting mid-May depending on your location, the controllers will come in red, blue, and chrome variants and sell for $55 through xbox.com/accessories and local retailers. Head past the break for images of the three controllers:

At first glance BrowserQuest looks like your standard NES-era RPG, but this HTML5 game demo created by Mozilla and Little Workshop is actually an MMO supporting thousands of simultaneous players.

Despite being more a tech demo than a full-fledged game at this point, the ability to play it through any browser, including iOS and Android devices, definitely makes it worth checking out.

While it’s been rumored in the past, Blizzard is once again talking about World of Warcraft coming to mobile devices. Up until now the developer has only release the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory, an iOS app that allows you to view in game stats and manage auction house and guilds.

In an interview at Blizzard headquarters, Senior World of Warcraft producer John Lagrave talked with Eurogamer about the possibilities of bringing the game to mobile platforms like the iPhone. From the sounds of Lagrave’s comments, the company is having some trouble figuring out how to make the WoW experience work on the smaller screens. We first told you about this iPad/iPhone-controlled quadrocopter in our holiday gift list, and today the second generation AR Drone 2.0 is now officially up for preorder. The device comes with the same $300 price tag, but packs in a bunch of new features.

The new AR Drone is capable of capturing or live streaming 720p HD video right to YouTube at 30fps with a 92° wide-angle lens. There is also a new gesture, or “flip button”, that will make the device barrel roll in the air on command. Another new addition is a new USB port for capturing video from the built-in HD to a portable drive. The overall design of the drone is pretty much what we’ve seen before, but we’re not complaining. As before you’ll need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch or Android device to pilot the device.

The company is building levels for Continue reading “Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Available For Preorder Now, Ships in September” »

The exploration of the vast world of Skyrim has just been made a little more manageable thanks to the Skyrim Official World Interactive Map app for iOS. Bethesda has teamed up with Prima Games to release this free app available on iTunes now.

Skyrim Official World Interactive Map brings the 3200x zoomable world of Skyrim to your iPhone and iPad. Other apps of this sort, most notably Dragon Shout, are already available but lack the level of detail offered through Prima’s app. However, the app may not be quite stable yet on iPad 2, according to The Verge, they’re currently getting a ”Please wait while loading data” error.  Another downside is the app is only currently available via the US App Store. The online project-funding site Kickstarter has been in a lot of headlines as of late. First we told you about two Kickstarter projects that reached 1 million dollars in funding, and just today a 17-inch Windows tablet being built by a 12-year old. However, an interesting new take on game development (via The Verge) is definitely something that has our attention. Rather than just an online course, “Code Hero” aims to teach you how to build games through a first-person videogame.

Alex Peake and Primer Labs have come up with the innovative and intuitive way to learn how to code games and hope you’re interested in making their plans come to reality. Built on the Unity 3D Engine, Code Hero uses a series of missions and, for the most part, familiar mechanics to both teach the player about coding and allow them to build their own Untiy games while playing. Apple today introduced a developer preview of its next major operating system for Macs called OS X  10.8 Mountain Lion. While the “Mountain Lion” moniker follows on with Apple’s tradition of naming OS releases after cats, one big change to the name is the omission of “Mac”. Apple is dropping the “Mac” from “Mac OS X”, a big change for the operating system that has used “Mac OS” as its identify for 10+ years.

The move is parter of a larger change for Apple and OS X that sees the entire operating system merging with the work done on the iOS operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Mountain Lion incorporates many features that Continue reading “Apple Drops “Mac” With Mountain Lion Preview, Begins Merging Of iOS and OS X” »

We told you the other day that Apple was seemingly cracking down on knockoff apps in the App Store with some of the most popular clones from at least one developer recently being removed. It looks like Apple may have another issue on its hands with reports originating from this TouchArcade thread claiming developers are paying approximately $5000 to get in the Top 25 rankings of the App Store. In fact, up to eight apps in the top 25 were promoted by the same shady service employing bots to run up downloads and automatically rate apps.

The post comes from an iOS developer who was in search of a way of promoting his new app when coming across an ad network who guaranteed to get it in the Top 25 for $5000. When questioning the ad network on exactly how they can accomplish this, the developer said the company openly explained its process: Continue reading “Developers Are Paying $5000 To Get Top 25 Ranking in App Store Charts, Apple Issues Warning” »
