The exclamation point isn’t part of the actual title, à la Oklahoma! — but more to indicate the urgency with which it must be seen. When I saw the latest trailer for the Expendables 2 at The Dark Knight Rises, it prompted a few chuckles from the audience — not just for the bad-one-liners, but at how completely plot-less (even for the mostly teenage crowd) the movie looked.
They might be more inclined to like this, which comes via StuffIStoleFromtheInternet and which serves as a showtunes summary of the films’ threadbare plots, complete with celebrity impersonations.

Now mind you the following is all based on the relatively lame and completely CGI’d-to-hell trailers of the new Thing movie that has emerged so far. The Thing re-make is set to be released this weekend, October 14, re-telling the story of an American paleontologist and a team of Norwegian scientists who fight for their lives against a shape-shifting extraterrestrial.
But how will it compare to this musical? Compiled from clips of the original 1982 John Carpenter film, and even given a lighthearted, rat pack-soundtrack, complete with a surprisingly faithful Sinatra-esque croon, The Thing: The Musical comes courtesy of brothers Jon and Al Kaplan, who did a pretty terrific job in slinging this all together.
