One of the most beloved NES games of all time, DuckTales, is getting the HD treatment and will be re-released for XBLA, PS3 and Wii U this summer.
Below we have several screens of the remastered game’s slick new graphics (via GT) along with the announcement trailer.
The game is being developed by WayForward for publisher Capcom and is called DuckTales Remastered. The remastered version will feature “hand-drawn and animated sprites, across a backdrop of luscious, re-envisioned level backgrounds.”

Sony today announced (via The New York Times) a new CEO to replace Howard Stringer, and it just so happens to be a gamer, Kazuo Hirai– former president of Sony’s consumer electronics group and an important figure in the rise of PlayStation and Sony’s online and gaming efforts.
Prior to overseeing the development of Vita and most other Sony consumer electronic goods, he was also in charge of SCEI & Sony Online Entertainment, the VAIO group, and the online distribution of music, video, books and other content. With Sony working hard to integrate its suite of PSN content with its hardware business, Mr. Hirai’s experience might be exactly what the company needs to turn around from four straight years of losses. This is what Hirai had to say in a statement earlier today: Continue reading “Sony Appoints New President & CEO, And He’s A Gamer” »

What’s the advantage of having a PlayStation Certified phone like the Xperia Play? Being able to access Sony’s PlayStation Suite full of old PS games of course (and a ton of other content in the future hopefully).
But if that’s not be enough of an incentive for you to pick up a Sony smartphone at the moment, Sony has opened up the PS Suite SDK to developers in a closed-beta, allowing them to build games that run cross-platform on both PS Certified phone/tablets running Android, and non-Android devices like the PS Vita.
Sony Ericsson also just announced the Xperia Acro and Xperia Arc are now officially PlayStation Certified on the Japan market. These Continue reading “Playstation Suite SDK Enters Beta as Two More Sony Phones Get Playstation Certified” »

For all of the classic console titles being rereleased on Xbox Live and PSN, it’s nice to see some older titles that had their roots in the arcades getting some love too. If a filing with the Australian government’s Classification Board is to be believed, Konami’s The Simpsons Arcade Game might finally be heading to a console near you.
With the filing (first spotted by the guys at XBLA Fans) listing Backbone Entertainment as the developer alongside Konami as publisher, it’s pretty clear this will be a faithful port of the original 1991 game most us spent Continue reading “Konami’s classic The Simpsons arcade game going multi-platform” »

It had already been reported by the Wall Street Journal earlier in October that Sony was looking to purchase Ericsson’s 50% share of their joint-venture phone business known as Sony Ericsson. Today, Sony made things official by issuing a press release outlining the $1.5 billion (1.05 billion euros) deal that will presumably see Sony dropping “Ericsson” from branding on future smartphones.
Sony will also gain ownership of “five essential patent families” related to smartphones. Their plan is to better integrate Continue reading “Sony drops Ericsson from phone business, plans deeper integration with PlayStation network” »
