If you’re not familiar with the term, straight edge, it is officially defined as “a subculture and subgenre of hardcore punk whose adherents refrain from using alcohol, tobacco, and other recreational drugs.”
Straight edge first originated back in the 80s with punk bands like Minor Threat, as a reaction to the excessive drinking going on in the punk/hardcore scene.
OK, history lesson over. The point is, a nerd labeling himself ‘straight-edge’ might come across at first like an oxymoron, especially as there’s probably not a whole lot of people out there who’d ever associate nerds with shooting up or drinking anyways (which is of course a good thing)

Fresh off the tweeting/nerdcore community debacle from a few weeks ago, MC Chris must now deal with the somewhat predictable backlash from grudge-harboring nerdcore fans/artists as well.
It may not have been so bad that MC Chris kicked out a fan for tweeting something negative about his opening act Richie Branson, but when he posted his weepy video apology, that seemed to be the opportunity some had been waiting for.
